What you can do
A code by email or app
Have the code emailed to you, or read it from an authenticator app such as Microsoft Authenticator.
Safe even if your email isn’t
An authenticator app still stops someone who gets into your email.
Recovery codes
An authenticator app comes with 10 single-use recovery codes, so you can lose your phone and keep your account.
Browsers you trust
Trust a browser you use and it skips the code for 30 days. Forget it from the Security tab whenever you like.
Google and Apple too
Signing in with Google or Apple asks for the code as well.
